Thread regarding CVS layoffs

401k

Does anyone have guidance who a laid off employee would call for information to have their 401k rolled over?

often times the best thing to do is wait until you get a new job and roll it into your new employers 401k. Otherwise you might end up with a bunch of orphan retirement accounts and it is more difficult to manage

You would call Vanguard. I spoke with them yesterday. My Separation was 10/21. Vanguard answered questions I had, but told me I can't move anything until 11/21.

Unless you want to roll it from the high fee CVS 401k Vanguard account into a very inexpensive individual account.

You can't touch it for 30 days after date of separation. There's plenty of other financial companies that will be happy to guide you through the steps.

The only answer is the company you want to use to roll it over to. They will handle it for you, if you want to keep it in vanguard there is no need to roll anything over.

Try Vanguard’s 1-800 number. If they aren’t the contact, they will know who and refer you to the right area in CVS.
