Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Take it easy

After VMware Explore, what is there to do?

Put your tools down and use this time wisely. Ignore the ‘leaders’ of our business who continue to say it’s business as usual and that we’re operating as an independent company, because there is nothing usual about this Q and we certainly aren’t operating as an independent company.

So just think, who you’re working for and why?

Take the time to focus on you…

On this day an entire workforce discovers what a mouse jiggler is. The loss of productivity could be felt across the galaxy.

I write my own mouse jiggler thank you very much.

As a ppl manager I am watching very closely who is working and who is checking out. Latter category will be terminated based on job abandonment or put on a performance plan. No severance.

As a people manager as well, I expect my team to have decreased work and motivation. I expect things to go slow as they juggle stress. I will extend PTO and whatever allowances I can while we get through this. Take time to focus on yourself and your skills, as long as the critical tasks get done.

But, there is a middle-ground here.

I will take note of people who are abusing that flexibility and expect them to be producing within a quarter post-close.

The last open req we put out had over 1,000 applicants. There is an extremely hungry market for jobs at VMware. So if you think you can just cruise through this, installing a mouse jiggler and playing Xbox all day, it won't work out in the long run.

This is d-mb advice. As a ppl manager I am watching very closely who is working and who is checking out. Latter category will be terminated based on job abandonment or put on a performance plan. No severance.

Those who can't hack it or don't want to work here should be mature enough to simply resign. Gtfo

I bet this guy is fun at parties!

That assumes you'll be around long enough to terminate them.
Dont count on it.

Funny how all the incompetents and slackers can't wait for any excuse not to work.

Uh, I was fired but still work here.

That doesn’t fit your narrative.

Welcome to bizzaro land.

No confidence in management at all. The only reason to continue working is my customers with whom I have a good relationship. And that relationship is important, at VMware, at BC ... or somewhere else

Funny how all the incompetents and slackers can't wait for any excuse not to work. You're making Broadcom's life easy, putting a sign on your head. Broadcom thanks for your assistance!

"So just think, who you’re working for and why?"

Exactly my thoughts. AVGO and VMW leadership have destroyed any remaining loyalty.

If the deal is completed, then many 'people managers' will be terminated.

As a people manager you should GTFO with that attitude.

Now get back to work “people manager” before I report you to your boss, I have you IP address and personal info.
