Let’s be honest. DEI along with the south people that cheated got us into this mess. Instead of hiring the right people, they hired someone that wasn’t qualified “at all” to do sales just to hit a diversity quota. Which in a sense is the why everything is a mess right now.

And now they have two AVPs that never come to office. Why do we have to come to office if they don’t have to? CL, AL where are you- disconnected.

I agree. From my years of objective observation, cronyism and nationalistic preferences supercede diversity at least 90% of the time. The vast majority of those who differ in this opinion are generally the biggest practioners, or benefactors, of it.

Or, just maybe there's something to the whole institutionalization thing.

The scam practiced everytime by Staples when eliminating senior leadership talent, no matter how effective they are, is to do so just before the day Long Term Cash Awards are paid out. Even after these leaders have busted their as--s the prior year to help the company achieve its financial goals, Staples' Award agreement was crafted to make them ineligible to receive the money if not with the company on "day of the payout." That money goes right back into pockets of Sycamore and the SLT. Wake up, folks. "Staples Values" campaign is an elaborate fraud, meant to lull its employees into a false sense of security. Unionize, for true representation of your best interests, because no one at Staples has it.

The pressure to end ESG scores / DEI within Corporate America is finally taking root. I applaud the movement.

Yeah this was def not performance based. I think it’s a combo of people they just truly didn’t have room for and let go with a good severance and some they left to let go with nothing at performance review time.

Performance had nothing to do with the layoffs. Top reps, ASMs and AVPS were let go.

Don’t worry if you can’t lead sales teams they will put you in strategy or operations if you are connected with the right people making decisions.

Not in the case where the decisions were made. Bottom performers were let go in this process but also top performers. Age, s-x, and compensation while they say are not factored can be shown are. There is a very strong pattern with these layoffs over the years top performing in role is not enough. And Diversity should matter and if it doesn’t at this company then stop training that it does.

Maybe performance supercedes diversity.
