"Racist and Exclusive" I don't quite get it for what this post is all about regarding Dish's chairman. However, the followings are the know facts about him, especially when the company is a little smaller,

He reviewed and approve PO's that other companies would leave them for lower rank managers.

He came up with the motto "Use company's money like your own"

He reviewed and approved hiring of director level position and above

He love new graduates with certain mindsets and attitudes

He tried to promote company's culture called "CPAW"

He once said in during the ATM that he responded to someone he interview that "Your MBA from Michigan does not mean anything to me without CPAW.

He said "I invested every penny of my money in this company, you should do the same"

etc.
His projection of himself into the company is very strong. However, majority of people are not convinced to do the same thing with him while saying that they do. Probably the situation that you are seeing now is because he is too far ahead from the rest of people in the company. It seems that they have a lot to do with the success, but not the failure of the company. This is my 10 cents.
