I joined Dell thinking it would be a great place to work, offering both money-making opportunities and a positive atmosphere. However, my experience here over the past two years has been quite different from what I expected. I've faced multiple rounds of layoffs and had to navigate a highly competitive environment. Sadly, I've realized that being successful here often means pleasing others rather than performing well. Meeting challenging targets while dealing with limited resources has made the job very stressful.
Unfortunately, my time at Dell has been marked by unprofessional behavior, racism, and intense competition. I'm okay with working alongside people who have different backgrounds, but it becomes a problem when these differences interfere with our work. Some colleagues seem to create situations on purpose to make others look bad, making the workplace feel like a high school popularity contest. The practice of trying to get ahead by being overly flattering is disheartening, and it's even worse when people turn hostile once they feel secure in their positions.
Given these experiences, I'm questioning the values of our workplace. I had hoped for a supportive and inclusive community, but my encounters here have been far from that. I hope these issues can be addressed to create a more respectful and fair environment for everyone.
Also, I have some reservations about the way the company handled the recent incident at RR. In the initial three days following the incident, our leaders made an effort to reach out to teams and inquire about our well-being. However, it's disheartening to note that these check-ins ceased before the week was over. This gives the impression that we might be perceived merely as numbers, rather than as individuals. It's quite contradictory to their attempts to portray the company as a family.
It's clear that there's a disconnect in how we view our relationship with the company, especially between employees and the employer. I'm growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of authenticity I perceive in some of our colleagues. The workplace environment sometimes feels reminiscent of a situation where adults are acting like they're still in diapers.
