Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

So… we wait … January???

What’s going on? Glad no layoffs were done yesterday buts it’s confusing how will they save all this money and no layoff? R they waiting for January?

Why does everyone think EL too incompetent to manage this organization should somehow become super competent when it comes to dismantling this organization?

They are going to save money because they are "quietly firing"us. Our work loads are increasing, benefits cost increasing, our pay is not increasing. Every day it gets worse. I'm so frustrated. I used to love my job.

We were told next round of “updates” aka layoffs would be sometime January. I’m assuming it’s legit because in the beginning of October we were told sometime November, no later than Thanksgiving, which was vague but upheld with 11/6-11/7 announcements. And everyone was clearly given a script to follow so I’d be surprised if they didn’t stick to that timeline and do something in December.

The WARN stuff is just d-mb, that’s for small companies with no money that don’t want to pay severance.

Layoff list is done, being “vetted” and finalized. Fist bump your leader next time you see them and ask if you’re good. Make em squirm

Yes, there should be more on 12/15 but because it's right before Christmas it's deeply unpopular and many leaders are advocating a delay to January

"Speculation here - incremental layoffs may prevent the company from triggering a WARN notice"

WARN won't be triggered guaranteed. They'd have to lay off ~16k people.

Speculation here - incremental layoffs may prevent the company from triggering a WARN notice. With layoffs carrying over into the next calendar year, Truist may be trying to reduce the amount unemployment tax increases associated with the layoffs in 2023.

Another poster put Nov 6-7, as layoff dates which turned out to accurate. They also mentioned December 13-14, has anyone else heard this?

Delaying it is for the company brand, not the people. I’d rather it come decisively as promised.

At least January gives us worker bees less of a resume gap.

Don’t worry grasshoppers. In a couple of years they’ll add some or all the layers of management back.

Fantastic, now we all have to fake care until January. They are really making us earn this severance.

That was my take away...
... that, and lean on eachother or some simular saying that was repeated to nauseum. Glad to to be employed through the holidays and will revisit the stress of not knowing in 2024. Prayers for all of us 🙏!

There were layoff’s yesterday. But it’s just taking longer than anticipated. I’m guessing that’s because EL is trying to figure this as they go. Remember, when you dismantle something, you start at the top, otherwise the structure will collapse upon you. As layers of management are gradually pealed away and shuffled around, they will make their way down to those that are doing the everyday tasks. The big layoffs will come Q1 of 24. That’s my guess.
