Thread regarding VMware layoffs

RSU expectations versus Reality

I've been hustlin' in sales for over 23 years, reppin' VMware for the past 8, and I've been in that P5 groove for the last 5.

Now, my colleague, a seasoned 12-year sales maestro, just scored a promotion to P5 in the last 4 months. But here's the kicker, the RSUs offered by Broadcom are the same for both of us.

I gotta say, I was kinda hopin' for a little somethin' extra, especially with my years of experience compared to my colleague's. Guess I had higher expectations.

Unfair fair upward mobility is par for the course in an acquisition.

We have different names for our grades, but numbers seem to match.
Either way, yes, welcome stock is 100% related to your current grade, there's no difference for performance or tenure. This will start to skew over time as every year you can get up to 199% more stock than the recommended number for your grade.

P5 is Staff, P6 is Sr. Staff. P7 is Principle.

P6 is Staff 2, I think.

The overall experience or VMware experience or its performance is not considered for initial RSU offerings. It's just band regardless of experiences you have.

Your expectations are not high; maybe your performance needs to be high to meet your expectations.

If you got somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 that seems to be pretty standard p5

If you were a p6 you’d have gotten a 15% OTE cut and about 4x more RSU
