The tone changed. The close date is not even close anymore, no matter how often he mentions it‘s „soon“. The acquisition is falling apart.

Never read a Magoo email, never will.
10 days later (11 depending how you count) and we are still being told "soon". There are only 17 days left id--ts, and seemingly no progress. More like 13 days to announce it.
The only winners here are the M&A law firms representing the buyer and the seller.
Everyone else is likely going to have to take it in the rear, given the recent news about customer plans to exit VMW software platforms ASAP in 2024.
Doesn't seem to matter if the deal does or doesn't close anymore. The outcome is equally unappealing for employees, customers and shareholders. Very unfortunate.
Raghu's latest 'tone' is because most stakeholders are frustrated, and he has no meaningful or substantive answers. Not his fault, since only the AVGO team really knows the likely outcome and they're clearly not sharing the truth with VMW leadership.

" Both companies remain committed to closing the transaction soon" just means that both companies don't want to pay any fees to the other for terminating the deal and are just hanging out, powerless, waiting to see if China is going to let the deal collapse or if they are just making HT sweat.
New CEO? 4 layers below him will be replaced? Their job done. Telling MD how to cut 40% of workforce and keep the lights on. No value in retaining them?
