Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Update on potential layoffs?

With return to office nearing quickly and the previous rumor of layoffs to reduce staff prior-wondering if anyone has heard any more about potential changes that might be coming?

"Illinois WARN defines notice-triggering events differently than federal WARN. Illinois WARN applies to employers with 75 or more full-time employees (excluding part-time workers) and requires employers to provide 60 days advance notice of pending plant closures or mass layoffs.

A “mass layoff” under Illinois WARN is a reduction in force at a single site of employment that is not the result of a “plant closing” and results in employment losses during any 30-day period (or, in some cases, during any 90-day period) of 25 or more full-time employees if they constitute one-third or more of full-time employees at the site, or 250 or more full-time employees."

Last time they did 2 months of administrative leave... that's 60 days. Rumors: today (11/8) & 20% of approx. 4.5k HQ staff & return to office is up to individual leadership (VP)... hope yours is decent and sane but also get ready to be back 3 days if you aren't remote.

The previous 504 was definitely not posted on the warn site before communication was released (same day). Not sure how they were able to do this- could be that some employees had 60 days post notice but majority were let go that same week

Someone previously mentioned last May reduction of 10%, elimination of 504 workers was not on Watn site. Not sure if that’s credible or not, but makes me think it could be the same in this instance.

There wasn’t anything on the warn site, so if in the next 2 months, it would be less than 250..which is still a lot (but not enough to “get rid” of those of us that would take up the limited office space.
