Silent Layoff

Anyone else find it strange that this layoff has been so secretive? This place is going downhill fast

I believe that if it's a large layoff, they are obligated to give 60 days notice and then a month of pay after that. So, you would still technically be employed for about 2 months and get a regular paycheck. It really su-ks that they are doing this right around the holidays though. Sinking ship...

amazing isn't it, all this yet while still paying the fired CEO $375,000 a month so she doesn't have to pay any bonus back that she got for doing nothing but cr-p. And consulting for what? you got rid of her because she failed and yet still pay her. We all should be infuriated to say the least. They are the worst.

Do you get severance if you haven't been at WBA for a year yet?

Tracey sent out an email that the Chief Marketing and Chief Merchandising officers were fired. Reorgs and cuts in both those orgs.

Marketing was hit hard. Some very good leaders were impacted.

I echo the below about departments. And how much more is left? It was phrased as a “rolling” layoff but seems there were a lot let go today

Not surprised that the layoffs were "so secretive". In my humble opinion, Walgreens lacks the integrity from what I'm told it once had. With morale in the toilet, corporate wouldn't want to broadcast that they're firing some of our "valued" team members.

It was nothing extraordinary. Because of the WARN act, I think people got admin leave + payout per tenure. It was similar to the April round, but I think the terms are different based on your job band. No specific amount was given to me, and I got very generic document, so I called the number provided, but didn't get any answer...and the person on the phone didn't even understand my questions.. If you haven't been impacted and expect you will be, I recommend read articles about severance payout in general, write down all your questions and address them when you have a convo with HR right then and there. Otherwise, you will have to chase down the rabbit hole like I do.

Do you mind sharing your severance package terms?

As usual, the coordination & communication was mediocre. Everything this company does is mediocre at best. Only what I can say is that Walgreens su-ks even at laying people off. We were told to be quiet until the corp. com comes out and clearly this is a big secret that we got let go..and I got a stupid generic email explaining the package. I called the number provided in the package to ask questions about the details, of course, they don't know jack sXXt about anything. smh....
