Got the Broadcom offer and I am part of the Presales team. Here are my thoughts focused on Sales and Presales only, as I can't speak for other teams due to my lack of knowledge.
- To those who didn't receive an offer or won't receive one, I want to emphasize that you haven't missed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Focus your efforts positively on your next career step.
- Based on local leadership communication, at Broadcom it seems the typical period for new performance-based RSU offerings is in March, and appraisals occurs in June. Those who've received offers now may not see any increment or RSUs for 18 months. Confirmation from someone at Broadcom would be helpful.
- Some threads on this site mentioned the removal of the option to decline and receive severance. In my offer letter FAQ, this option was available for US regions.
- Broadcom's offer, especially the number of RSUs, is primarily determined by your band (P4, P5, etc.), it doesn't consider your past performance or experience in VMware or overall experience in IT. The decision to extend an offer or not was made by local country heads and core SE leaders.
- For some, their overall existing salary has been reduced.
For Sales and Presales, the expectation built around compensation didn't reflect in the offer letters, so it's a disappointment. Some sales professionals are already exploring other opportunities or have declined and resigned due to regional quota structures. It can be demotivating for high-performing salespeople to realize that their compensation won't change for 18 months.
