Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Remember: No matter how many RSU are offered, they only have value if they vest

If you receive an offer of a 20% salary reduction with $800k-$1000k in rsu check the vesting schedule on the rsu. If it's 12 months ask yourself what percent of the engineering org will be laid off within the first 12 months post acquisition and look at other acquisitions by bcm and in the industry. Remember that layoff payment is also calculated from base salary and not value of future rsu.

If you take a 20% pay cut you might be agreeing to work for less money for 10 months and receive a much smaller layoff package without ever seeing a single rsu.

OP obviously did not got the offer and not knows the vesting happens every quarter, the amount of negative comments and dislikes tells you, majority did not get the offer, those who got it, value it.

now those who did not get offer, go ahead dislike this reply, take out the frustration 😂🍻

"RSU vesting period is in every 3 months and in first rsu will be vested on march 15 if deal closes on Nov. you will recover all salary cut in first vesting itself. So all you are saying in BS"

It might just mean that they plan the first round of layoffs in february or early march. Incorrect dates dont invalidate the concept. With a 20% base pay reduction which also applies to the layoff package sum, that would mean that they get 2-3 months of work from any laid-off employees for huge discount.

If somebody makes 200,000 and they receive a 12-week package it's $50k and broadcom get nothing for it. If they take a 20% paycut and work 3 months and receive the same package the total compensation would be $80k ($40k + $40k). Broadcom gets 3 months of their labor for only $30kmore than they would spend to get nothing. It's a really f__king good deal for broadcom.

Imagining how many RSUs Broadcom can save and how small package they have to pay, it looks very attractive for Broadcom to layoff people with base cut. Never underestimate a company that calculates and shares EBITDA target openly before acquisition.

BC uses this strategy to push people to work hard, and will let many of them go with low cost. It is much better than transition offer for BC.
Even you know it well, so what? Unless you have other better offers, you have to accept it.

Just because there is a consensus, does not mean there are only 1-2 people posting things here.

As soon as a negative comment loses its freshness, and someone provides a thoughtful counterargument, a rapid succession of 3 or 4 messages typically appears, seemingly in an effort to overwhelm the rational and differing opinions.

The repeated themes and perspectives being pushed do not accurately reflect the collective voice of 35,000 people. At most, they come from a handful of individuals, possibly even just one. The similarity in the tone and substance of the messages suggests a single source with significant psychological challenges. It's not healthy for someone to obsessively dominate a public forum, pushing their singular stance while actively suppressing alternative views through an onslaught of new posts designed to overwhelm.

It's unrealistic to believe that 35,000 individuals would share an identical style and perspective. What we're likely seeing is a vocal minority, perhaps only one or two individuals, who are making a disproportionate amount of noise. It would be beneficial for them to step away from these platforms and seek the guidance of a mental health professional.

VMware has 35k employees going through shared experiences and similar thoughts. Just because there is a consensus, does not mean there are only 1-2 people posting things here. Thinking things like that is how conspiracy theories start

The collective flavor of these posts, seemingly from one or two regular people without the ability to pause for even 24 hours is concerning.

Red flags are beginning to surface. Stop the zero value nonsense posts and move on with your life people. You’re clearly hurting, seek proper help.
