Severance medical coverage?

Any idea if medical benefits will be included in any future severance package? If severance is 2 months plus, shouldn’t we be in benefits open enrollment now to cover any post 12/31/23 time period?

The severance in the U.S. was 2 months pay plus 3 months health coverage, so even if the deal closed on 10/30, you would have been covered through January. I can only assume it would be the same plan as 2023.

Good question. Most people would be eligible for COBRA which would mean you keep the same plan you now have. In COBRA a participant is eligible to make changes during the ex-employers open enrollment period. But who knows when that is?

Another question: if the deal fails and VMware employees miss the current open enrollment, which normally would be now, what happens? If the deal fails does VMWare have a plan to continue the health care?
