Thread regarding VMware layoffs

It is time to pull the plug

Investors are getting nervous, VMW employees are on the verge of rioting. This has been fumbled so hard that regardless of China approval, or whatever else is holding it up, it’s gonna past it’s “sell by” date.

I seriously worry about the viability of a combined VMW Broadcom if this closes. Key talent is done, Hock needs to cut his losses and run.

I’m saying this as someone that actually kinda wanted it to close, and got an offer with more money in stock than I’ve ever been offered in my life. If the deal closed, I’d be a millionaire in a few years. I really want that, lol, but I worry for VMW and BC at this point should this close.

Remember that there will be 1-2 more culls of vmware staff post acquisition. Just say'n.

Broadcom's severance packages are better than VMware's severance packages.

What's not to like?

"I’ll be interviewing at BCOM at the next opportunity. That’s how to run a business and produce value."

I mean its the same company that prematurely sent out offer letters...

As for OP future millionaire status... unless they have a 3 month vest period, I wouldnt count your chickens before they hatch. Remember that there will be 1-2 more culls of vmware staff post acquisition. Just say'n.

Get a grip.

Be professional.

Stop whining.

And if you’re VMW, good luck hiring anyone to work for less than a million dollars in RSUs if this deal falls through. I’ll be interviewing at BCOM at the next opportunity. That’s how to run a business and produce value.

I'm more concerned about VMware if the deal doesn't go through.

Gonna be a while before most compatibles want to risk a big M&As, as everyone has business in China and no one wants the embarrassment of a big deal falling through.

And if it fails, then what? MD is going to just put another for sale sign up. The next buyer may be worse than BC. Either way we are screwed, it seems at this point it is to what degree.

I don't think there are buyers lined up to get VMware, not as a whole anyways, now if we slice and dice, sure you may find someone for few pieces.

As for future of VMware, if the deal falls apart, I do think it will be fine in the long term, We will take a bit of hit short term. Sure, some of the things Broadcom is looking to implement is necessary, we do need to cut some bloat, reduce some release cycles, focus on quality than number of releases in a year.

VMware is a profitable company, not stellar, but we do make money, as for MD looking to selloff, I do think he saw an opportunity to make a quick buck and hold on to decent share in AVGO, probably anybody would have done the same thing given the offer at hand. that's greedy but I get it.

The VMW brand has been permanently harmed by this AVGO-created crisis

A remote workforce can produce very destructive types of riots, actually the worst. Only fools think otherwise.

I would fly to HQ to riot. Remote won’t stop me from expressing anger

one downside of a remote workforce, the rioting options are limited.
