Thread regarding VMware layoffs

They need to go

After how mishandled this whole process has been, I truly hope Broadcom gets rid of the entire VMware ELT and anybody else who was high enough to contribute to this mess once this is all done. Who would want such a level of incompetence joining their company, anyhow?

Be Broadcom

mishandle M&A
delay paperwork and stop comms
have vmware employee blame vmware leadership
fire vmware leadership for a problem you created
receive adoration

What I DO fault leadership with is the months and months of "we are discussing our values and culture with Broadcom, the VMware name will stay, VMware will make up 50% of Broadcom's sales, and Broadcom is listening". Of course, it was all a nothing burger since Broadcom clearly did not care, with the first indication being the 'maybe we will, maybe we won't' have last week of December off.

Maybe Broadcom will be a good company to work for, I have no idea either way, but as of now they could legally make simple promises like the end-of-year vacation issue that would people more at ease.

And the funniest thing thus far was when the CTO of Broadcom was extolling the virtues of working on site and that Covid was not an issue at that company meeting. The next day they announced someone had Covid at that meeting, and the next next day they announce coyotes are roaming the campus.

They will be gone, whether the deal closes or not. A case study in poor and failed leadership during crisis/difficult times. Other than the random email, they will never dare get up in front of this employee population again.

They will go, with 10s of millions of $ in their pockets.

Broadcom never gave a F about them in the first place.

That is ridiculous. The SLT has been hobbled by Broadcom so for Broadcom to blame them for this would be absurd.

I was told the SVP of my group received a transitional offer.

Indeed zero value, plus Amy Olli has been phenomenal.
