Looks like there may be a thaw in US/China relations - Good news for HT?

BEIJING, Nov 3 (Reuters) - China's commerce minister told Micron Technology Inc's (MU.O) president Beijing would welcome the U.S. semiconductor company deepening its footprint in the Chinese market, signally a further thaw in relations between the world's top two economies.

China is the weak side.
Beijing is welcoming the big US CEOs in the past several months.
Just name a few, Elon Musk, Tim Cook, Jamie Dimon

US is very strong in $/economy on the contrary

In my opinion, unless this "thaw" results in almost immediate approval...like in the next 5 days... the deal isn't going to close.

As I said in a different post, I'm pretty sure the vultures at big Wall Street law firms are already circling with a class action suit against BC/VMW as they've locked shareholders out of trading. You can do that for a week or two, tops. After that, there are going to be legal ramifications. And once a lawsuit starts, the deal is going to be way more complicated. None of this means the deal can't close, but it needs to happen soon if it's going to happen at all.

Maybe Hock and his merry band should have had SAMR's approval IN WRITING before they jumped the shark. Because you'd think that after waiting for 18 months they'd have gotten a clue that not everything was as copacetic as they were publicly saying.

Means nothing. There's a dozen chip manufacturers. If anything, this hurts BC and their chances of approval. There's no benefit to approving this deal for BC as similar to Intel and Qualcomm.

Its more than just about chips fella, its Ukraine, Russia , brics ....... Years of stuff going way back before the chip shortage. If hock had any real brains , he would have seen this a way off but he is 90pc ego.

Of course, they welcome these companies, only to copy the technology and then figure out how to advance it from there.
These companies are basically giving away their Intellectual Properties so the CEO and other executives can continue to make their millions and then retire. It's just corruption done legally.

Not bad, but if US government continues on chip curb, China may show gesture only without real actions.
