Interesting that he promised to invest $1.5B more in R&D at quallcom after the acquisition. Here's a guy that knows how to build business value and cut the fat. Donald Trump didn't stop the acquisition because a business would be too efficient. He stopped the acquisition because strategic jobs would be controlled by an overseas business.
That message was well understood, and in response, Hock Tan took the memo and relocated the HQ and business.
Trump wanted a piece of the deal just like he wanted a piece of the the airline deal (oops! That’s under NDA!!). Execs were like “wait, what?? Aren’t you the President?? This isn’t a private equity deal!! NFW! Bug off!!”
