Expectations to focus on Q4

We are being asked to still focus on closing business in Q4 and telling our customers by the way it can close any day now (“soon”) and we are supposed to focus on Q4 even though we don’t have offers, are they fu--ing out of their minds ????? The only thing I’m closing is another job out of this fu--ing sinking ship

Yep, this hits home for me too. I’m in sales without an offer and I’m in a really odd place to say the least. Scheduling meetings next week with customers not knowing if I’m even going to be employed the day it’s scheduled is comical.

“ This is a unique limbo situation that impedes my ability to pursue another job while waiting for my deserved severance with no assurance or confirmation of date.”

This doesn’t impede your ability to find another job. Go looking and get one. You don’t need to wait around for severance, you’re doing that for the want of additional cash. If you’re that unhappy, get another job you don’t need severance! Take control of the things you can control if this is stressing you out so much, do something about it.

Dude? You’re such a naysayer. This is an epic failure. Damages to shareholders and employees will be determined by the legal system, and not you pontificating.

Any who thinks that they can make a legal claim for distress is dreaming. For this type of claim you would have to be a long term employee, been dumped without cause, have suffered serious financial losses and medical bills after a nervous breakdown. You can't just say that you felt stressed. I have talked with lawyeres about this in the past.

Where many of us do have a claim is for the withholding of our RSU disbursement if that doesn't come soon. However even that would be a costly and lengthy undertaking and would probably cost more in lawyers than what most of us have coming.

Interesting. You have a point, and made me think hard whether this a route I and many should explore

I’m reviewing with my attorney legal action due to the impact of this mismanagement to my, and my partner’s, mental health. This is a unique limbo situation that impedes my ability to pursue another job while waiting for my deserved severance with no assurance or confirmation of date.

Q4 Focus?? Does anyone recall the extremely painful process of getting quotes out the door (i.e., constructing deals with DMT, approvals, etc..) in the recent past BEFORE Manic Monday (U.S.' offer letter day)? I'm in sales, though not an offer-holding member of VMW Sales, and can't fathom what the process looks like now for any Q4 deal!!

I know I have a much higher ROI with my efforts focused on working within my network and interviewing. Sorry VMW leadership....you lost us a long time ago...(and if you were still a VMW fan after the tone deaf hiring of Train for their acoustic concert the Friday before Manic Monday, I have no words for you)....

Honestly, but totally speculatively on my part, most of the senior/excutive leadership will likely be gone either way anyway. I'm sure they would prefer this the deal to go through so this can their retirement nest egg - let's be honest, Raghu, Betsy and JP are not going to be looking for executive positions. At best, they might consider doing the speaker/consultant circuit and/or nice cushy board member position(s) for other companies, but likely not even that. If they don't get a buyout payout, my suspicion is they will be pushed out, probably also triggering a decent nice golden parachute payout, either by the board and/or some activist shareholder in some time soon (within weeks or months) after the deal was cancelled.

You really think they say something Monday? Absolutely not they haven’t shown communication and respect all this time now it will change after they fu---d things up themselves ? VMware leadership are cowards and now more than ever… they are going to continue their hiding snd if the deal falls through they will come out saying they applaude us for fluidly And courage and allllll that corporate BS while they scramble for jobs

The way this is going, the $1.5B that BC would have to pay VMW to walk away from the deal, if that is what ends up happening, won't even come close to making up for the long term damage they have and are doing currently to VMware.

"telling our customers by the way it can close any day now (“soon”)"
Isn't it lying to the customers?
They do not know whether China will approve or not.
Most likely the deal is dead.

I'm in a customer facing role supporting sales with engagements with resale partners and I can tell you that I am not at all busy anymore. Engagements started to slack off after the merger announcement and now they are all but dead.

Exactly. This mounting chaos and costly paralysis (nobody is doing sh!t right now) is why I don't think that they will be able to wait much past this coming Monday to decide on and announce whether they will be moving forward without China's approval or cancel the deal if they haven't yet received that approval. Expanding on what was stated above, what is there to close when we don't yet know any details on what we will still be able sell in terms of products and their editions, to which clients (I have been told that there will be a shuffle of accounts) and through what process (which clients will switch to direct vs stay with partners), which solutions we should focus on to ensure that we have a chance at full attainment, who will still be around to make sure that is even possible, or what the sales incentive program even looks like? It's a complete and very costly cluster f!#k so far that is only getting worse and more costly every day that goes by and may still end up with some lawsuits by employees and/or stock holders the longer it lasts, IMHO, so my bet is we hear something either way on Monday.
