First, it was the long wait to find out anything. Then, I didn't receive an offer when some folks I know did. Now, we once again have no idea what's going on. My motivation is currently in the cr-pper and my productivity was never lower. The only thing that's still keeping me here is possible severance.

If you did not get the letter, the company is not counting on your contributions going forward. Your motivation and productivity have zero value. Accept it and move on.
Maybe all the conspiracy theories were right! Hock is doing this on purpose, to weed out all the weak, sensitive and needy employees out of VMware. Are your feelings getting in the way of doing the job you're paid to do? Do you always blame someone else for the failures in your life and career? It's VMW management, it's the government, it's the immigrants, it's never you or your decisions that would need improvement, right?
Join the club... I think everyone's morale has been totally shattered at this point, great job VMW leadership
everytime i think about this, i get that sharp sinking feeling in my chest. The anxiety. Gym helps alot tho.
Perfectly natural. The part of your brain that is in charge of those things can't tell the difference between threats of a wild animal or modern work threats and so reacts the same. Problem is, people do not react by running or fighting modern work threats to complete the cycle. Instead, just sit in it and stew. The gym can simulate fighting or running as far as the lower functions of the brain are concerned and complete the cycle. Going for walks helps, screaming can to believe it or not. Yeah might look silly from the outside, but a loud, long battle cry can be helpful and doesn't require extra equipment.
What about EPIC values that they make a big deal of every All-Hands?

What have you done for self care? Have you ever had a full body massage? If you haven't, that could be something new to try that might help remove your stress. When I get one, I feel benefits long after.
I know it costs money. If it is too much, try getting out to a park if it isn't too cold in your area yet. Being outdoors can refill your battery and refresh the mind. Which you'll need if you decide to stay or start job searching.
Another thing you can do is write what you would do in each scenario. Then set that where you can get it later once that happens. Now you don't need to think about it because you have your plan written and just waiting for the trigger to enact on one of the plans you wrote. The triggers can be, in 6 days if the close hasn't happened update resume and search for jobs. Or at close if laid-off will need to do xyz. Or if given offer do other thing. It's not perfect, but it can help free up some of this from the center of your focus. It can be a physical way of giving yourself permission to put it aside so you can focus on other things.
Maybe start looking for a new job?
Same here you’re not alone ! I’m not doing sh-t sticking around for severance it’s least I can get compared to emotional damage and stress they caused. Worst leadership I ever seen. When they are put to test, you realize it’s all talk and no actions
