I refuse to work at a place where I have to worry about layoffs 24/7 even though we desperately need more and not fewer employees. I refuse to pick up more work before somebody at the top figured out they can squeeze more out of already overworked employees. I'm done. I'll quit the moment I land a half-decent offer.

Staples has become a very unhealthy place to work. I believe JL has / had good intentions, but JD does not. The culture took a nosedive after she was hired. She needs to go if JL ever wants to improve the culture and mental health of the company.
For those of us who are still here for valid reasons, I suggest you do a mental reset. Make your personal life and health a priority, don't take on the extra work and stress. Put your employment at Staples into perspective - until there is new ownership and SLT, Staples is simply a paycheck. Your boss literally can't fire you. HR is outsourced and offers the managers no assistance with the truly problematic associates. Associates with true performance issues just become a lot of work for the managers with no end. Their performance will have zero bearing if they are laid off or not. Our new favorite interim CEO confirmed that last week. She said they didn't let go the bottom performers; the layoffs were strategic alignments.
Put you first. You will still have a job at Staples until the next "strategic" lay-off. BCG is actively working to determine what that next strategic layoff will look like. My guess is the next riff will be Jan 31, 2023 - right before FY24 begins.
So then quit, don’t be loser;.
It truly is stressful and worrisome when you constantly have to think about layoffs. I believe I made it through at least 30 layoffs over 15 years. You feel bad for those let go but breathe a sigh of relief that you were not affected. But then it’s finally your tun and I have to say it’s very devastating. I wish I had left the company sooner but then is the grass always greener? You don’t know….just take the chance. I feel for all of you having to experience this stress….especially if you are the breadwinner in the family. Tough decision to just leave.
You'll sleep better once you walk! I was so fed up with being left to mop up the mess time and time again, I resigned without a job. Lean on your LinkedIn network.
Someone’s a little salty……Mr. “Instead of complaining do something about it”! You must be with SLT.
Well good luck nothing holding you back other than yourself . Last I checked the term employee at will still stood. Go, I'm sire the grass is greener elsewhere. Instead of complaining do something and move on.
You think they're going to do another Global Engagement Survey this year? Seems about the right time.
