Never thought that I have to study international politics for my SDE job...
Anyway, since President Biden and President Xi are going to meet in APEC, for China, they may look for US's reconfirmation on Taiwan issue, while for US, China's support or sort of collaboration on foreign affairs such as on Israel, Ukraine is urgently needed. Economic issues will also be the important topics as well since both sides need each other. However, in terms of AI/chip war, it is highly unlikely that US will back down or relax on it, therefore China will react to it and BC/VMW deal could become the victim since there is no many cards China can play in this area.
So, we will need wait for at least two weeks, and eventually the answer from China will be "NO", or more possibly, pending forever till it fails. Let us wait and see.
