BCG sold Staples a bill of goods which we were never going to get. Same as they’ve done with us multiple times over past 8 years. AC model, GTM, etc… and Lederer loves them- we got an unrealistic budget to hit this year and we are nowhere close to hitting it, yet sales and profit are up compared to last year. So despite the company making more $$ than 2022, still need to cut 300 folks. Very dark day for Staples, and if you think this company will be expanding, you are delusional. Amazon grows their business division more than the entire size of Staples every year…office products, F/S, Tech and Print are all categories that will only be purchased digitally without rep involvement. Sad to see what this company has become in such a short period of time…. Business is Human

Lay off BCG now that’s an idea most can support. None of their strategies have worked. How much did Staples pay them for GTM. How much for NGS, and countless before, in between, and whatever they are calling this one. I call it Russian roulette and playing chess. Moving your people around like your pawns that you can easily discard when you have a new “strategy”. And continue to pay BCG for the exact same strategy. Sell more to shiptos. Brilliant plan now go do it so BCG doesn’t package the same thing up for you next year.
It was almost 450 associates cut in the US, more in CAN. BCG isn't done. They are starting the next round of "recommendations" that will hit Jan 31.
The massacre was well over 300 double it, and agree with everything you said. The bazillions of dollars Staples has given BCG is a joke. And their recommendation has been the same every time. Problem is not the ideas it’s the people, process, and tools which fail. BCG is PowerPoints and bad data but keep paying them and firing good people that have worked hard to drive your profits it’s the Staples Way. Human element left when SG and NR were let go. There hasn’t been a human in place at the top since then. All bots with no brains and no hearts.
