Plan B isn’t owned by Raghu. It’s Michael Dell. If this fell through, my guess is sell to a large PE firm who takes VMW private and dismantles it in a way not dissimilar to the Broadcom plan. Increase profitability etc and focus on core competencies only.

Trolling aside I think it is to implement what BC was going to do. Start to lay people off and try to become more profitable so they can be bought by another suitor. Michael Dell isn't going to just stop being the ring leader he still is majority shareholder and he wants to get paid.
