I'm hearing Micron will scoop up the flash business to consolidate their market share. But I suppose SK Hynix could block this too. I think it was a mistake to allow other countries veto power over these mergers.

Micron is stupid buying this sinking ship, please let it sink.
seems little upside in it for Micron
Micron's nand cant sell in China. By acquiring flash BU doesnt make them able to sell in China, in fact maybe more market loss. There is no market consolidation through this move. No one will acquire micron too.
the irony if Micron/Sanjay scoop it up
I heard rumors that Micron may exit NAND business altogether
Micron could easily buy WD's worthless flash business. A previously $19 billion acquisition is now rated at a few billion by the key investors. WD can't afford to sell it at such a loss so they need to create a separate business and try to recover value.
What do you mean allowing other countries veto powers... There are two things in play... 1st SK Hynix has a substantial share of Kioxia, therefore they get a say. 2nd, if a company decides to do business in another country, then they are obligated to play by their rules. These are fairly simple concepts... not sure what you mean by "allow"...
Tesla is buying Flash side.
BS rumor. OP doesn't even understand the Kioxia merge attempt. The only way Micron could buy WD flash is if the merger had happened. In other words, no more JV. If the JV is still there, the merger can't happen because Micron has their own IP.
Hynix has nothing to do with us. They are Kioxia investor.
Why would Hynix block this? Maybe China could? But wasnt Hynix was due to investments with Bain to Kioxia
