Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

There will be another round of layoffs after Thanksgiving

They do it every year, one round around 11/1 and one round around 12/1.

They like to hit people who make good money. If you are in Sales you should be concerned, they lay off so they do not have to pay you.

It's so messy right now, this is not a good place to work at, period.

Don’t blame HR or Ops. If either of these groups knew it’s because someone in SLT leaked it and word got out. Everything has become siloed and most teams have been working on projects that contributed to the ultimate demise of others and had no clue. You want someone to blame? Blame SP or JL for sinking this large ship, not the ones who basically make pennies to essentially clean up messes they never created

In my experience, once there is a layoff there is not another one for at least a year...at least to the extent that hundreds lose their jobs. The last one in the retail world was 2020 so it had been over 3 years. Things are not great right now and the economy has been teetering for a while so I think it is possible to have another one soon, but I would give it another year. If BTS goes downhill even more than expected next year things could be very bad as there is really nothing working out there.

Actually it’s not typical that they’d layoff again before January. However mid January is still a possibility before the new fiscal year starts.

Don’t wait until it’s your turn. Update your resume, start applying and take advantage of the hot market. It’s only a matter of time before the company sinks altogether. Typical, another layoff before the holidays; there is nothing human about it. This isn’t the 90s and early 2000s when the company was a run by authentic leadership who cared for their people.

Wasn’t fear-mongering before a leak in HR or Ops has a very big mouth and the anticipation and the realization makes it that much harder so please keep the insider info inside so it doesn’t make it to the site and freak everyone out. It’s apparent the company is not thriving and a matter of time. No one can argue that facts are facts.

They are going to go bankrupt. Why do you think Citibank discontinued the credit cards with Staples.com??? Staples was WAYYY over debt!!! Get out NOW while the market is still good. Between Thanksgiving until after New Year companies are not looking to hire and train. You have 3 weeks to look or wait.....

Get your resume sharpened up. The titanic has hit the ice berg. The music is still playing at this point but don’t wait for the panic to set in.

This websites has been spot on about EVERYTHING. People know what is going to happen. Just be thankful you are getting a month heads up.

Seems like pure speculation. Unless you’ve got something concrete get out of here with the fearmongering.
