Has anyone hired an employment attorney? or is their a class action lawsuit?
Layoffs happen. This is not till death so as part ppl. It happens. Move on. I did, did so very happily. I’m doing fantastic! No regrets. I learned a lot there, I was worked hard, learned hard and now I’m flying colors. My severance was great, I even got paid for vacation time I had depleted. I didn’t like my new boss, old fashioned, can’t think outside the box. It was terrible. But yea, severance was great for me. Covid had hit and unbelievable unemployment from the state. Look, su-k it up. This is not a forever marriage. Layoffs happen every where, every day. I’m thankful, no regrets. Got good 10 years. I don’t hate Staple, don’t hate SP. And love DR LNR dry humor! Good luck people, think positive.
To the person who asked about the WARN Act... When SP bought Staples it became a private company, and only publicly traded companies have to follow the WARN Act or publicly announce layoffs.
I think people greatly underestimate how many people have been laid off from the overall organization since SP bought Staples.
Staples took too long to realize Amazon is here to stay and crushing their business. Staples better prepare for the flux of customers exiting their partnership with Staples in 2024. Happy I got my package and onto newer and exciting things. Who wants to be in a sinking ship? The music on the sinking Titanic is about to end soon.
Why was a WARN Act not filed for this? There is supposed to be a 60 day notice for this type of thing. Has anyone else questioned this?
Remember Citi bank pulled away from staples means citi bank is like a credit card company lending $ to staples if you don't pay your money back you will loose out on your credit. Then they let people go (fired alot of people) then (layoff) with severance package this is a recipe for filing BANKRUPTCIES then selling the company. STAPLES IS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SOON.
I was forced out of Quill (a Staples subsidiary) at the end of September. Best thing that could have happened. 16 years of ups and downs, but it's clear--there are no more ups left.
Yes I was let go but don’t label me as a victim. I’ve been with Staples for 10yrs and Staples was a great company to work for “once upon a time”. I agree with the person above who said if you are not a “ yes man” and had a good salary then you were at the top of the list. I’ve given 10yrs of my life to a company that ultimately doesn’t care about any of its employees. I knew in my gut this was coming so I started preparing myself mentally. This past year has felt like a bad marriage and yesterday my divorce papers were signed. I am finally free from this one sided relationship. And before anyone says well you should have just left! It doesn’t work like that when you have a family. You stay and try to make it work and give it everything you’ve got! Yesterday a huge weight was lifted from me! And I want to say to the ones that are left…..I’m so sorry! It’s not going to get better. Like someone said…… the Titanic has hit the iceberg and sinking. Even though the music is still playing……. it is sinking fast. I wish you all the best.
Severance package is completely unclear. A packet is coming in the mail tomorrow. Don’t bother calling HR, they won’t tell you anything to clarify.
Does anyone know what the severance packages offered were?
Yes another victim here.
Yes I was effected.
I don’t fully understand the B2B severance package. And are we going to still get our earned commissions from last month?
Yep B2B and gone. Severance package is BS too.
Bottom performers were let go along with heavily tenured older staff with high salaries making room for the younger less expensive players. Will make it look more attractive for the sell if the sales are able to get back on track with the restructure to make the company actually marketable.
No but people who were better at my job than me were. Crazy stuff.
If you safe, you are not safe for long. Another round of layoffs will happen. If you are smart, you should look now while the market is still good and before the holidays when no one is thinking about hiring.
Staples Business is Inhumane
It’s about the bottom line, bonuses being paid out for SLT, and recycling the same sales strategy with a repackage to make it seem new
And su-king the life out of anyone that works there.
Yes. B2B. Had great metrics and revenue. Makes no sense.
Yes
