I'm guaranteeing you that the uncertainty and the constant wait for something - anything - to happen have irreversibly affected morale. Employees are exhausted from this sh-t. We are drained. Whether the acquisition goes through or not, the damage has been done.

If I ever work for another company that Broadcom wants to buy, shoot me if I don't leave immediately.
As far as morale, it would take years to recover, but by then MD will have chopped VMW into 100 pieces and sold off the dismembered corpse to PE.
It’s still MIA and we all now know who are their special people. So what do rest do now? No direction, nothing really to work on as nothing as been reversed.
Then your job is documentation. That is always the job when there is nothing else to do. Document your job, the work, the project, the plans. Document things to reduce technical debt. You're being paid to do that.
Just do your f@cking job, keep your eyes on what's best for your customers and the people who pay you
I second this. It's called being a professional. If you signed up for this job, then do it, ffs. Yes, you may lose it soon, but you're still getting paid for it, remember? Nobody stops you from looking for a new company for any reason, but you still have your everyday duties while you work here.
“Just do your f@cking job”
What is my job now?? It’s a complete FUBAR when it comes to Ops/CIO because everything was halted to prep for transition. People who are not on transition offers were all signed off and leadership had gone MIA already. It’s still MIA and we all now know who are their special people. So what do rest do now? No direction, nothing really to work on as nothing as been reversed. Except waiting for any news everyone is checked out. It will be worst if the deal fails. There will still be layoffs and retention RSUs won’t vest either. It’s a nightmare that doesn’t end. One thing is clear, there is no career left here. Deal or no deal. Keep applying.
I still love my team, but this limbo has been utterly ridiculous. I‘m beyond caring whether it closes or not. I just want SOMETHING to happen!
We will all look back on this as one of the worst things that has happened to us, so far. But life goes on and we will recover, and people usually do in situations like this one.
What doesn't ki-l you just makes you stronger. I don't regret choosing to work at VMW, but I'm ready to move on. There's nothing left that I care to be a part of anymore.
It all started with Magoo lying about the company being acquired when the news was leaked.
I care but the wind is definitely out of my sails at the moment. Even though some of us had more of a sense of urgency than others, there was a certain cadence and rhythm to this company that is not there now.
Yep - employees don’t care anymore about the company.
Finally!
Yep - employees don’t care anymore about the company.
Been a tough year and this last week, going into two weeks or whatever. I hear you, it is exhausting.
Thanks for being strong and doing my work for me.
Not all of us are so weak. Just do your f@cking job, keep your eyes on what's best for your customers and the people who pay you, and stop wallowing in your self-pity because your employer is currently restricted from communicating with you.
Before I leave I'll be filing a grievance about the VP who disrespected me and didn't try to keep me and I'll be slacking off while I plan my exit.
Definitely not. Don't care anymore. Jumping ship in the new year to a company worth working for and they can continue employing housewives and children. B-ms in seats is all their interested in anyway.
100 - now the mass exodus of thousands going for the same jobs
