Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

"Trick or Treat" cruelty from ELT

ELT always manage to sink lower with act of cruelty. Layoffs before the holidays was a low but on Halloween is just right down cruel and revealing of their true character.

After each layoff thru this year, ELT spout the worse is over and we have everyone we need to go forward. They gloat at artificial quarterly earnings and stock price increase. They suppress all realities and made sure only those aligned with their plans are left to speak only good of them.

The reality is that ELTs are monsters that refuse to look at the mirror because they know they will see they are the real problem bringing Teradata down. Instead, they confidently go about giving out tricks, deceiving everyone, so they can continue to reap the treats of $$$ while continuing to destroy this place.

Good luck to everyone affected by the ELT monsters.

And for those that survive, you're in the ELT dungeons. Escape when you can.

What's crazy is upstream in engineering where there's no real world development experience leading the show and rewarding minions of yes people.

HA, the know nothing CPO. DS, the crocodile tear service process evangelist that never delivered a real product, the spineless do nothing SVP timber inherited from the stacki acquisition, and many VPs promoted for QA background and experience. They all never worked at a real professional software organization, felt threaten, and so got rid of everyone except the brown nosers. No innovation, no experience, no trust, no respect. Rotten at the core. This is the root of the company's problem and we are seeing its demise as mentioned by many this past year.

The insiders who continue to hobble the company survive while smart people take the fall. I'm honestly shocked at some of the cuts. How can you have people with no real-world experience leading teams of marketing experts? How can you get rid of people with incredible amounts of inside info but not change the systems that make those people invaluable. Cray. Zee.

I heard at least 200-225 in the Americas' Region. The other Regions are getting it too, but I just haven't heard numbers yet. What I find interesting is that for months, we've been beat up about "transperancy", but we have an LT that is anything but transparent!!

And RIFs are in the house... this will hurt Teradata in the long run.
Teradata I knew was built on great technical leaders and achieved greatness.
The current Teradata has no marketable solution. There is no good way forward to migrate customers to a cloud solution nor to win new logs. It's been a total stall from year to year.

Real talent is ignored and laid off regularly. Bad strategy for Teradata.
Teradata no longer has the technical depth at any level to drive innovation to change its course. The only people left at the top are now opportunists, they do not understand the product they are selling.

Teradata is just a superficial mass of people that have no idea what they are doing. It will go down fast!

Teradata leadership rewards managers who say yes no matter what, claim to deliver on time regardless of how true it is in reality, and who never hesitate to require their engineers to work overtime (with fun names like "war room" and "crunch time") for months at a time, rinse and repeat. The problem is with ELT. As long as they reward this behavior in their management ranks, these are the types of managers who will continue to succeed. Meanwhile the few managers who do push back against unrealistic expectations, who won't claim victory if it's not true, and who refuse to require their engineers to endlessly war room and crunch, get sidelined and shown the door.

Teradata will continue to slowly shrink, lose revenue, and become increasingly irrelevant in the marketplace. Their entrenched leaders and upper management are too politically covered and incentivized to deliver the appearance of victory instead of an actual product that sells and works well. So nothing will change and these layoffs will keep happening every year like clockwork.

My layoff radar has been pinging for months now, warning me this was coming - Happy Halloween everyone! ELT is all talk no substance, no detailed technical direction and huge disconnects between engineering teams. Good luck riding this ship all the way down.

Was affected. Not mad at it. They dig their own graves. Was safe for 6 years so my time was up i guess.

It's Halloween for the management here year round.

The tricks and deception starts immediately after each layoffs with words like "it was difficult" and "we care" but in reality behind the scene they can care less.

Watch for crocodile tears from HA, DS, and their minions just like before.
