Broadcom VMWare Deal delayed

While there are now very few messages on this board I have been recently following the Broadcom VMWare saga on the VMWare board.

Seems that they are now at some kind of inflection point with Chinese authorities not approving the deal at the expected date in the context of a complicated geopolitical situation between USA and China.

Overall it appears this is now unsure that Broadcom would be able to complete the VMWare acquisition. And it has been confirmed that this would be at least delayed…

Financial Times, Oct 30, 5:08 am -- "US chipmaker Broadcom and cloud software company VMware have delayed the completion of their $69bn merger, which had been scheduled to close on Monday."

So I was thinking to that.. would this have an impact on Cloud Software ?

I personally think there is a remote scenario where Broadcom would acquire Cloud Software instead of VMWare and TK would return to Broadcom. But there could be other scenarios…

But anyway the season is not over and many things will happen in coming weeks.

Stay tuned !

I thought about that too - but wouldn’t that face anti-competitive lawsuits from Microsoft and other players in the EUC space if VMware EUC and Citrix were under the same umbrella? Then again, it would not at all surprise me.

Better yet, wait for the Broadcom stock price to dip then TK can acquire them, be CEO and lay off all the rest of CSG to reach 100% profits according to his master plan.

Vista and TomK want it - guaranteed.

TomK came from Broadcom and helped assess the VMW acquisition - most likely this was planned when he was assigned by Vista to take over Citrix/CSG. As a pillar alongside Citrix BU or absorbed into it, VMW EUC would lock-in those customers that are unhappy with the loss of Citrix relationship and renewal increases from the re-organization. Those customers are used to the "mark templeton" Citrix, not the new cold-passionless Cloud Software Group that demand soaring renewals with ZERO negotiation.

Also, if TomK and Vista own every top private company on the just-released 2023 DaaS Gartner magic quadrant companies, where will those CTX/VMW customers then scramble to? EUC is then in a squeeze and in danger of surviving.

It's genius by Vista. EUC companies have operated autonomously for decades, competing against each other, and now its ripe to exploit customer that are locked in, under that single CSG umbrella.

The real question about the VMware Broadcom deal lies in the fact that the entire EUC BU was excluded it seems from receiving offer letters to become FT Broadcom employees. Most are suggesting that there's a spinoff or PE acquisition of EUC to be announced post-close (if that ever happens). That's where this could directly affect Citrix. Think about who could acquire the VMW EUC business? Who would want it? Would have to be an organization that believes that it could compete with Microsoft and the DaaS/SaaS solutions (like Zero Trust / SASE) that many Citrix customers are moving to, especially after the licensing increases, less-than-stellar support, etc.
