Last Friday, everything was clear....now I am really starting think there is a possibility this may not happen.

if they didn't approve intel's acquisition back in august then I don't see how they suddenly change their mind to approve this...
In my opinion no, it isn't going to close. The deal will be terminated later this month. Just my $0.02 based on how China has treated these things in the past.
In the past I was more optimistic due to Hock's confidence I thought he had something up his sleeve but now it's like the Emperor has no clothes, Hock has confirm he needs Chinese approval and that is not happening in the next 25 days.
that touchy feely sh-t that ppl wanna throw out here as worthless.
Because it 100% is. People spending time doing touchy-feely sh-t that aren't doing their job so their peers have to pick up the extra work. And it's true bullsh-t, too, because I've seen the EPIC types get laid off during the annual culling of the herd (and their peers be delighted). It's you types that make the most noise about all this goofy sh-t that we don't need. The real workers are heads down just trying to make a living and go home to what is really important. Down vote away, nerds.
Winnie the Pooh wants his pot of honey.
If you think anything coming from Raghu is "clear", then you need your head checked. Raghu has completely transitioned into being Hock's puppet. He only says what he is told to say.
What you need to do is analyze and as--s the information at hand.
Hock said this deal would close by Oct 30. It did not.
Hock needs China's approval, he does not have it.
CEOs will not reveal all the facts as they are incentivized to protect the stock price.
The US and China are in a cold war.
China has already played similar infinite delay games with other US chip vendor acquisitions.
Broadcom is now a US company.
Follow the logic, and do the math. The probability of the deal closing is now less than 50%. Hock is clearly not in control.
This deal not closing when allegedly there is all the necessary approvals is not because of a bureaucratic reason. All US regulations are met. Yah, okay thats not what was asked. When you operate a business in China, China doesn't care what US or other governing bodies and their specific regulators opinions. This may be two US companies but they both do business in China. They must get Chinas regulatory approval if they wish to operate. This is no different that Intel and Qualcomm. All three companies, Intel / Qualcomm and Broadcom are in similar business. This deal will not go through without CCP approval and everyone who says otherwise is fooling themselves. This is what real power looks like. There will be no Aquisition of this company or any without CCP approval if they wish to do business to China. As most do, this wont even be a topic in less than a month.
Wild speculation? It’s a power play by China. They will never approve. HT tried to bluff them and lost. Now it’s just a waiting game at the expense of the employees who HT has ZERO care for while he waits til the deadline, and then blames it on China to save some face.
I’ve worked with a bunch of BC ppl in this transitional and frankly, they seem brainwashed and just care about the stocks they get. That’s seriously all they talk about. BC isn’t about innovating, it’s about money. It’s staffed by ppl that just want money, they dont care about their fellow employees, or culture, or anything, just those pennies. I pity them TBH. I like money too, don’t get me wrong, and my offer had a like half a million worth of stock attached to it, and I’m just a middle manager… but you know what I care about more? VMW foundation, epic days, feeling good about doing my job. Really caring about the ppl that work for and advocating for them to work smarter not harder, all that touchy feely sh-t that ppl wanna throw out here as worthless.
I’d rather work with 20 decent at their job great kinda and caring ppl than 100 stock mongering robots that were beat in to submission.
Who knows if the deal will close or not, in any case, the damage to VMW is already done.
"JPP's email around 11/3 quote expiration dates"
which quotes are expiring on 11/3?
I may be more on the optimistic side here but I really do think this thing could close any day now. Truthfully, I think Broadcom has probably delivered everything they have been asked of, and now it's just a political thing they need to navigate around. I don't think this even comes close to the 11/26 deadline - maybe even by the end of this week based on JPP's email around 11/3 quote expiration dates. Who am I though lolol
Was it clear? Really? Like over the line, guaranteed clear?
Broadcom has been similarly dreamy like the OP and hence is late while the facts had been obvious a week before already
