Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Broadcom knows they will get approval

"Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO) and VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW) today announced their expectation that Broadcom's acquisition of VMware (the "Transaction") will CLOSE SOON, but in any event prior to the expiration of their merger agreement. "

The parties have received legal merger clearance in Australia, Brazil, Canada, the European Union, Israel, Japan, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and foreign investment control clearance in all necessary jurisdictions. There is no legal impediment to closing under U.S. merger regulations."

This is indirectly saying Broadcom expects to receive approval before November 26th merger deadline.

Oh, and also
"China recently increased the fines for g-n-jumping (closing before approval) tenfold toabout $700,000 for cases that do not pose issues. For a high-profile transaction raising real competition or industrial policy concerns, the fine can now be up to 10% of the acquirer’s global turnover in the previous year"

Thats over 3.5 billion dollars + 10bn of Chinese revenue. GOOD LUCK "working around" China now

Why don't they ever straight out say they have gotten approval from US? Is it kind of like saying someone charged with mu---r is innocent because the judge said he is innocent until proven guilty? Would FTC really let such a large and controversial deal slip past even without any concession? Or is it that they are waiting for the right time to act?

Broadcom also said the deal would close before their fiscal year end and now is not. Do you understand what gullibility is?

No. It's not.

Hock Tan and BC is keeping their "confident" stance in their power-play with China. Hock stated all required approvals were given and transaction will close on 30th, so where is the transaction close ? Where are the trolls now who downvoted anyone stating China is a breaker ?

Now we are looking into unknown territory of from 1 month towards 3-4 months delay. Feel free to downvote me for stating the facts again.
