Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Try emailing firstname.lastname@broadcom.com if it bounces u know what it means

So group of us in slack channel gave it a try and turns out we got undeliverable for the people without offers. The other ones didn’t. Your mind will make you think oh maybe someone else in BC has that name,., it’s sad we hang on to hope but ya…. You guys try it

I remember a university that was subject to a similar vulnerability, where if you changed the URL to your application number it would tell you your verdict ahead of time. News spread on Reddit. Uni IT found all numbers and they auto-rejected all applicants who did it.

I have an offer and tested this. Turns out no, does not work. It bounced for me as well…

If all successful emails received an offer, then it seems we haven’t learned any new information. Or is the idea just to have fun checking which coworkers got offers based on email bouncing?

Did they have to accept before the email works? If so, it may have no predictive power.

Your message wasn't delivered to x-x.x-x@broadcom.com because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail.

I'll get my coat.

Yes, I tested and can confirm this is indeed the case. We learn more from SMTP then we do from our leadership. nice once.
