Thread regarding VMware layoffs

If the deal is off

I think all of us would actually thanks China for this, and we would be to glad to see Raghu f--ked up, can't wait to see his disappointment. Almost all of the VMware staffs I know would like to see to pis- off ASAP

"No worries! I am sure VMware will honor the new OTE/Bonus/RSUs that were offered, right?"

I know you're joking, but please send me some of the gummies you've been eating!

Either way, as a stand-alone company or a subsidiary of BC, there are going to be layoffs. We already know that BC intends to let about 50% of VMwares employees go. But even if the deal doesn’t close, VMW will need to do something to get more efficient. Michael Dell saddled the company with $8 billion (it’s probably all in an offshore account of his in the Caymans) in debt and that has to get paid down. So don’t expect business as usual if it falls through.

Raghu will be remembered as the worst CEO VMware ever had, and the one who ruined VMware

It's not if the deal is off, its when. China can streamline it's process for any companies regulatory approval as it sees fit. It doesn't need BC, BC needs China. Only way this gets done is if China wants it too. It has no need to help US companies get stronger. Let alone with the latest AI chip ban. Rejoice as things will be business as usual soon enough going into the EOY.

If the deal is off then the damage has already been done. Employee moral is in the toilet, the brand has been damaged, consumers probably have a different view of the company and at the end of the day VMW is still majority owned by a few billionaires who want to milk and sell it to the highest bidder. Neither outcome is good.

In the overall scheme of things, if the deal is ON or OFF is somewhat irrelevant.

Hock Tan has been exposed as a ruthless CEO who turned a semiconductor company into a private equity mercenary organization purely focused on shareholder profit.

He will not have the support of VMW remaining employees. So, his best hope now is that he negotiates a limited Termination settlement with the VMW board, and cuts his losses.

There is still the VMware layoffs to worry about and that will be done by existing management who will save their own skin.
