Like I want a 4 year old Intel Macbook.
Was just about to refresh and then they put all tech refresh on hold.

No you cannot have the laptop because all laptops are actually leased and not owned by VMW. Companies have been leasing laptops for many years. That’s how you get new one every few years. So those need to be returned or VMW will need to pay ridiculous price for cr-ppy Dell laptops. And it would be ridiculous if you want to buy or keep one of those cr-ppy Dell laptops. I have seen few laptops at VMW where the battery is swollen and about to explode.
But before the axe falls you can use the Discount program n VMW to get 50-60% off on Lenovo X1 Carbons. That discount program is under utilized. Some great discounts there. Use it before you loose it. MS Office installation download for $30.
Deregistration from UEM is easy. Forcing an Apple device off ABM, easy. Stealing hardware and submitting a false police report, well, now you’re a criminal with no integrity.
“They can come get it”
Basically yes, especially if you are remote. You’ll get prepaid shipping and instructions.
“File a police report”
Sure… but the fraud will be uncovered. All VMware owned Apple systems are registered through Apples corp management program as someone else pointed out. Even if you wiped it and reimagine it, removing all traces of VMware’s UEM… it would be ill advised to connect to the interwebs. But please do, I would love to read about in the news for the lulz.
“Take office supplies”
Why, are you that hard pressed that you need to steal crapy dried up ball point pens and paper clips?
The real question should be, how many snacks can you stuff in your pockets on the way out?
Can I keep VMware office supplies?
lmao, stolen laptops and expired milk at the breakfast bar. why is it so easy to see this pattern?
Nope. It's not yours. They'll want it back.
They can come get
Apple laptops would have to be unregistered from UEM and from Apple Business Manager. That process doesn’t always go smoothly. You’re better off turning your laptop in and getting a new one.
Folks that advocate theft don’t work for VMware or they a amazingly ignorant of our products.
Well you can buy a 2023 M2 mac book air with 16gb of RAM and 512GB SSD for 1500$ nowadays, it seems like the last of our problems.
What is even more concerning is the lack of understanding of how Anywhere Workspace UDM works. Do you seriously want a used, stolen laptop that is enrolled in VMW UDM? If you think that is OK then you probably shouldn't be working for the company.
Why do people keep asking this question? What makes you think you can keep company? Do people take the deep fryer when they get fired from McDonalds? No, same concept applies here.
Always fun to see some of the super smart people around here recommending fraud and false police reports as a way to secure a free laptop.
You know you can just order yourself a laptop?
Call the cops and say your laptop was stolen out of your car then give the report to VMware. Free laptop. Yay!
Please don’t do this.
How many effin times is someone going to ask this. There are 1098023 threads on here about this and in the slack channels. You are not getting/buying your old laptop; stop asking!
Laid off with severance and wants to buy the crumb-riddled, coffee-soaked laptop. Amazing.
Never!
