If this is what an abusive relationship is like, beat me up honey. I'm making a lot of money. Don't know if all abusers pay this well but I like it.

So people like you have been laid off before yet haven’t been laid off at Truist yet this is worse? Ok. Got it. Tell us all how you would communicate things to both the street and internally? We’d loved to know the wizardry you come up with.

@1otl+ - I agree. I've been through several layoffs in my career, including a national bank and a global bank - the difference between how thtose layoffs were handled is night and day compared to SunTruist! Rather than bringing in "The Bobs" to determine what job is relevant, they allow the "good old boy" leadwrship to keep their buddies and so on down the ladder... never seen anything like it!

In my my undisclosed LOB we were encouraged to have one on one meetings with our manager and to utilize Truist mental health resources to discuss our layoff-pending related stress.... I have no words!

With 20 years of work experience and several economic cycles, I've worked at other companies with layoffs, but never have I seen it handled this way. In other situations it was always swift, well communicated, with the goal of ripping off the bandaid swiftly so the survivors could rapidly move on and regroup. This dragged out belabored process is anxiety producing, and seemingly sloppy.

I agree with most posters. The "layoffs over 6 months" with no transparency is a sh*ty way to treat hard working employees - leaving us on edge, week after week, to pray we don't get that random "one on one" meeting invite from our manager - the one we all know means the ax is about to drop. It is hard to have respect for a leadership team that knows most of us are stressed and doesn't seem to care.

toughen up......ha ha! Us worker bees are way tougher than management due to the sh*tshow they put us through!

Yes, giving people notice would certainly help. They can prepare for it by spending less and saving more. Getting health, dental, and eye exams completed. Transparency reduces the stress of the unknown.

It’s not even about the layoffs . It’s the way they treat employees. It gets worse and worse each day . As they lay off more people we get more work and less for our efforts. Every day brings something new that they are taking away from us

Hardly any layoffs at merger ruins your credibility.

Lots of little layoffs?!? Have you seen Wells, JPM and Citi announcements? Lol
They aren’t little. It’s called capitalism. There are great times and bad times. Tough environment on banks now. There were hardly any layoffs at merger and every client facing position had a job. SunTrust had a frozen pension and at merger it was reinstated.

Corporations do lots of little layoffs at different locations to avoid the WARN act. Stringing us along is just a cost saver - nothing personal. EL doesn't care if teammates are stressed.

What exactly is the communication you all are looking for? So ridiculous the comments. What company gives workers specifics about when they will be laid off? Johnny, on December 15 will be your last day. Would that help?

Every bank hires consulting groups douche. Every bank announces future plans for RIFs and in some states have to. Get out of your hole.

Toughen up? You must be EL because you are clueless AF. Yes other banks are laying off but not spending a fortune on a consulting firm to figure it out with zero communication. What a douche!

Agree on abusive behavior, question whether it is due to incompetence or intentional. Announcing to the public first about RIF, then providing no details other than it will be ongoing for multiple quarters while waiting each day for a hint, yet knowing your survival is completely outside of your control and outsourced to a 3rd party to be randomly announced to you on a whim. Not a healthy environment. Is the emotional torture intended to increase voluntary separation and attrition?
