When you say TA is the reason for the toxic employees. You do realize the hiring manager who opens the position has the final say on who they are hiring? TA just presents candidates. So that would not be a TA issue.

To be fair to TA: how about all the hoops they and the potential candidates have to jump through, when a manager posts for a position and knows 90% of the time it will go to someone on their team?

For those not yet impacted, don’t get too comfortable or feel superior. No one is immune, including you, toxic and clueless hiring manager

People lost their jobs! Have a heart! To blame a team that has been dismantled is just not our culture. Some really good people were laid off. Tenure. Top
Performers. This is heartbreaking especially around the holidays. I have enjoyed working with some of these great TA people to staff my team. As a hiring manager, it’s my job to retain not TA. Wishing all of our TA team best of luck. Thank you!

HM’s have no idea the hoops TA has to jump through to even find the right fit. Comp won’t let TA pay people what they deserve so in turn TA can’t hire good people. It has nothing to do with TA, it’s the full compensation package that is not competitive. TA is also not allowed to ask a lot of questions that would help disqualify some candidates due to compliance, so they can’t get the answers to find the right fit. Before blaming TA find the root behind the cause.

Obviously. I was responding to the individual’s post reflecting TA as a waste. Obviously where many areas in the org are being cut doesn’t make sense to keep a robust TA function. You’re preaching to the choir. But the point I made at the end of my last comment, when drastic cuts are made to TA, it is indicative of a deeper systemic cut. And future hiring will be very restrictive to null. Like the canary in a coal mine. New models and workflows? Do more with less, su-k it up, bring in more AI/ML and automation. All for the shareholders. Oh, and don’t forget the focus on Quality!!! 🤪

This management vs TA in hiring misses the point. TA is being drastically cut because the hiring freezes in place for many departments and markets are likely to continue until at least Q1 2024, if not longer. If you’re going to do layoffs and not hiring, TA is a very likely (and unfortunately reasonable) place to look if you have dedicated recruiting teams. Recruiting isn’t that transferable to temporarily assigning other duties, and you just don’t need as many folks in TA when you’re going a long time without hiring. It’s a traditionally volatile and even outsourced job in many organizations for that reason, has nothing to do with the quality of TA.

Most hiring managers and TA partner very successfully, net promoter scores reflect this. There are a few hiring managers however who insist on doing TA’s job because they can’t get out of their own way, not because TA is not capable. They don’t have confidence in themselves. Then they go round and round, not being able to make a decision, caught in the funnel. And ultimately it’s you, hiring manager, who makes the hiring decision. A toxic workplace begins and ends with you. And when an organization RIFs most of their recruiters, you’d better be damn worried about your own job and others. You know “clean house” means you too.

I hear ya and understand your point of view.......

Fairly enough Im sure there are many toxic employees BUT there are just as many toxic and unqualified managers (leadership) that was brought in that continues to "further deteriorate the culture of this place." It go both ways -no good employee without effective leadership and poor leadership cause toxic employees.

I do not wish anyone to be laid off from there job and do not hold TA responsible for toxic employees. Truth be told noone is safe and that includes hiring managers and up.

Not surprised. As a hiring manager, I am not impressed with the TA team. I did the recruiting and candidate outreaches myself because TA work was not up to my expectations. TA is partially responsible for bringing in toxic employees that only further deteriorate the culture of this place.

I say, clean house. And continue to clean house in TA.
