Those who have been laid off already - what is the notice period you got? I.e. were you told “today is your last day” or given 3 month notice? I am hearing that for those in NY WARN act should be applicable based on which they need to provide employees 3 months notice.

Its best to read the severence letter or severence agreement you got when you were laidoff to see if you're permitted to accept/start a new job while collecting a Citi paycheck on WARN. Take all your documents to an Employment lawyer who specializes in employment law not just any lawyer.
@8nzv+1pjHnwKE Seems like you’ve got it made.
@8yej+1pjHnwKE - dude stop with the nonsensical posts. His severence would be at risk since you don’t get severence if you quit. While on WARN you’re still an employee of Citi, if you take another job, you basically quit Citi and took a new job, so no longer eligible for WARN or Severence if/when Citi finds out.
False equivalency in your post isn’t helpful, just trolling
Its odd to me that what he’s doing is considered risky and his severance would be considered null and void but somehow its ok for Jane to give herself a HUGE raise while our stock price is so low.
Beware the hidden snake, its the most dangerous of them all.
That’s risky. If Citi finds out ( and there are def ways they can), they will consider you as having “voluntarily terminated” (quit). Under WARN payout period, you still work for Citi, you have a paycheck every two weeks and benefits. You can’t have two jobs, so means you quit Citi and lose the WARN payout AND you don’t get severence. Better hope they don’t find out!
NY employee here. Im on a 90 day non-working notice. So Im basically being paid by Citi for 90 days to do nothing. I already found another job so Im getting two checks now one from Citi and one from my new employer and after the 90 days I get my severance. I lucked out. People out there you should all be looking in case you get laid off.
Does it mean you get website time during WARN period? Meaning if you’re not working but getting paid for warn period - does it mean you’re still considered employed with Citi? I am trying to figure out if in resume one can continue showing they’re still employed with citi as opposed to unemployed during warn period.
Citi has laid off 7k this year. Folks that have been laid off ( at least all that I know, or who have posted), have all gotten the WARN payoff.
Not exactly. If you read the WARN act it says there has to be a layoff of over 50 or more at a single employment site during a 30 day period before it kicks in. Site is defined as a single permanent structure.
Citi can let go 49 employees per building in the US per 32 days (beyond a month) and not have to honor the WARN act. It would not reach the massive numbers quickly that they want and it would be slow, but it bypasses having to follow the WARN act notice period.
That’s not how it works. The 60 or 90 day WARN period is non working. So your last day could be the day they tell you you’re laid off. Access cut, go home. But you’re paid for the WARN period as if you were still employed. After that you get severance, can apply for unemployment etc.
