Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Not celebrating

Got the offer I wanted but not celebrating. I see really talented hard working folks got screwed over and some clueless and less than stellar workers get a full time offer. Also don’t gloat if you have a FT offer coz your workload just got doubled. I really see no winners in this Squid game. Maybe those who were severely underpaid and got a bump. And there aren’t too many of those.

In the US, the average age kept has to match the average age fired, this is why some overachievers were let go and underperformers kept.
Although our 4 full time Helicopter Pilots in New York were the first to cut from CA.

In Europe coming from CA, Broadcom just kept all of the highest titles and everyone else went to transition. Later on, a lot of those on transition got full time job offers and kept the transition pay.
The US was a completely different story because they let invaluable people go with immediate cuts or transition, but it turns out they had to age balance everyone kept vs everyone let go, which hurt a lot of good workers.
Over time they have brought back a lot of invaluable employees who were let go with better job offers and stock RSUs.

People who claims they don't know the meaning of this post, just do not want to face the reality.
It is fine. You can never wake a person who pretends to be asleep. They will wake up after a hit.

Same. Transition, get to keep title and benefits and no salary cut. 12 months pay at the end and will time my new employment with that end date. Happy for that but not happy for those that didn’t get what they wanted. We’ll just have to learn from this and move on. Onwards and up!

Got transition offer. Essentially 12 months - 3 months transition, 1.5 month bonus, 4 month severance plus week for every year maxed at 12. Got 12. See ya VMware

Same…not celebrating at all. Just relieved to maintain a job and paycheck…for now. For me, that beats the uncertainty of severance and a job search of unknown duration. I expect to start looking for a new job in earnest after Jan 1.

the point was some really great people, top performers, didn't make the BC team, while some under performers did. The worst part was/is the lack of communication and total mishandling of this.

“ What is the point of this post?”

You seem to be devoid of empathy. I bet you’re the life of the party..
