Has anyone received an offer and been knocked down a level, as per everything we have read from CA and Sym?

I still find it so unbelievably corporate tilted are president and vice president. Seriously, it’s laughable. Those execs who try elevate themselves with these titles. It’s fu--ing crazy and pathetic . Calm down big people, it’s just a job
CA had way too much management which actually made things worse for the workers. Too many Chiefs and not enough Indians approach.
I remember watching the movie "American Psycho" when it first came out thinking what a d-mb movie, everyone knows that you can only have 1 Vice President and in CA we had over 30 VP's, SVP's and EVP's.
Much better in Broadcom with management so few and far between they never bother you with stupid projects
yes i personally know several managers who recieved offers as IC to keep them employed and let higher managers either take their positions or reduce manager count from peers. ive seen it both ways.
Considering the inflated titles at VMW, I'd expect a lot of people to go down (at least) a level.
Most directors have 50+ reports.
It is impossible for them to manage all of them directly? Or, maybe possible?
“ Senior directors to managers.
Directors to managers
Senior manager to IC
Manager to IC”
If a Manager or Senior Manager at VMW was downleveled to an IC, does that mean they have no more direct reports? Is Broadcom’s definition of an “IC” = no reports?
I've been in the software industry for about 40 years and I've NEVER cared about my title ... until I joined VMware. Specifically, after being here for 2 years and was told by my manager that I wouldn't get a raise this year because I was already at the top pay for my level. HUH??? A year later I went to Staff 1, another year later Staff 2.
So if BC doesn't equate salary to title, then I don't care.
Yup sr Dir down leveled to Dir
Senior directors to managers.
Directors to managers
Senior manager to IC
Manager to IC
The only unscathed for down level were obviously ICs, but even that is not true because many did not get jobs at all
BC has The Flattest mgmt structure I've ever witnessed. Which in hindsight isn't a bad thing at all (unless of course, you are a midlevel mgr). As written all over this site - BC is an exceptionally high functioning organization with little to no fluff. Compensation is above avg and equity is outstanding. Come aboard
2 Levels down seems to be pretty standard from what I have seen of others offers - and this is at most levels.
No need to worry for managers. They control the resource once the deal is closed and know how to take things back.
Tams were downgraded to tses but I think that's even too good for them. All they do is talk rubbish and type annoying emails.
I was downgraded to unemployed pending close
I know a couple directors who were downgraded. Base cut also by a lot.
But has anyone actually received an offer at the lower grade? Not looking for opinion.
All Principal Engineers (P8) have been demoted.
I think whole management track been demoted at least 1 level.
Starting Dir and above are down leveled at least by 1 level.
