Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

401k questions for incoming VMware people

I've read that AVGO's 401k match is 6% (great!), but is there a total dollar cap (At VMware they capped matching contributions at $9k per year.

Also, I've read that broadcom matches aren't paid out until the following january. Is this true?

Finally, do matches only apply to base salary? or does it count towards both base and bonus contributions? (At VMware, 401k contributions come out of both base comp and bonuses.) (And are bonuses paid out at the end of the calendar year they are awarded? or do they get paid the following year? (In which case a matching contribution for bonus attained in 2024 wouldn't get paid until 2026!)

Many of us are trying to understand this so we can plan our retirement contribution strategies for the rest of 2023 and heading into 2024! Thanks in advance for any clarity you can provide.

Base only. Match hits every pay period.
