Thread regarding Optum layoffs

MedExpress Urgent cares closing

Well sad to say that after years with this company Optum has officially closed 4 urgent care clinics in Florida and 3 in Minnesota laying off all staff members clinical, nonclinical, and providers. These locations are Lutz, West Tampa, Carrollwood and Boca Raton in Florida and Eden prairie, St. Paul and Cloquet in Minnesota. We got a 3 minute phone call to tell us that we were terminated and that our centers are closing. We got no other contact from higher management on what to do or how to do it. Nothing was done face to face and it was so cold. Worst part is that they expect us to come in the next day and work as if nothing has happened. This company needs to do better I am sick to my stomach. This SU-KS!!!

The MN clinics were never busy. And, in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area, there is an abundance of Urgent Care Clinics now. Poor marketing, along with firing all the nurses, has led to the closures.

When will all remaining MedExpress clinics close down? They keep contracting - soon enough there won't be any left.

For those in the Tampa area, HCA is building a stand alone ER and UF Shands is building an ER that is the first phase of a hospital / medical center both just NW of Ocala. I have already seen job openings for the HCA ER.
