Thread regarding VMware layoffs

I know everyone is calling out BC for lack of info, but equally half of the blame for this needs to go to VMware.

I can't believe for a company that pride's itself on EPIC values the VMW leadership couldn't even give a proper goodbye or farewell to all the staff before acquisition closes. Big big management failure as we are nearing the close of the acquisition.

I cannot wait for the press to be told about how this whole thing has been run. Everything is waiting fot this god damn close date and then the news stories will fly.

There is no leadership here. No offer and current manager could not even tell me to my face I am being laid off.

If you still believe that they have that information to provide, and refuse to do so, then there will never be leadership you would like.

I've been working in VMware for 15 years. I stopped going to all town hall meetings over 8 years ago. Best decision I ever made. I know they don't give a fu-k about their employees. And I don't give a fu-k about them. So why bother listening to their bullsh-t. Head down do my job well and ignore the fakery.

Who are these people who think that VMW leadership was (or is) competent? It's been a clown show for at least a decade.

Incredible amounts of waste. Garbage product strategy. Limited engineering talent. No clue how to sell.

They don't care about you. They never have.

VMware has been engaging in un communism since 2015 controlling speak. The managements attitude is rules for thee not for me. They could not care less about one person inside there unless your part of the clique and hate the truth which is why they never told it. They ridiculed anyone who did tell the blatant truth. Try as for anything a manager said in writing. Crickets! If you ain't in the cliques, you don't matter.

I don’t know how long you’ve worked in tech, but a lesson you need to learn is this: never drink the kool aid. The so-called “EPIC2” values were an employee-relations stunt. Nothing more, nothing less. That’s been obvious since they were first introduced. VMW cares about you exactly as far as you generate revenue. All the Beer Bashes and “company celebrations” in the world won’t change that.

Personally, from everything I’ve heard, BCs culture su-ks. But at least they’re not lying (as much) to employees.

I have to agree. To say leaders can’t give 25 minutes to 37k employees after all we’ve been through, and all still to go through…it’s an insult. We all know it wasn’t scheduling, at the 11th hour when this has been on the books for months. We just don’t matter, as they have shown us over and over. Huge disappointment and failure in leadership.

And as a front line people manager, they have left us all high and dry attempting to support our teams with no information and no leadership and no golden parachute like they will get.

The only thing epic here is the EPIC failure of leadership.
