The MFers once said they wouldn't lay anyone off at the holidays. December of that year (back in the early 2000s), gave people the ax. Merry f'in Christmas from Cengage.

No one will save you. You have to become your own hero.
If you’re laid off:
Take a few days to just process it. If it’s your first time being laid off, it takes your breath away.
Use all the job-finding resources they give you. They’re lame but a free resume refresh is a good thing.
Rifle through your LinkedIn contacts and see who is hiring. Update your page as soon as possible and fill out as much as you can. This is especially true if you want a job at an actual tech company. Network with anyone you worked with at CL. Everyone else will be doing the same thing.
Don’t get discouraged. The job market is extraordinarily competitive right now but you can find something if you keep your eyes peeled and your ear to the ground. Look and submit resumes every single day: looking for a job is a full-time job.
Don’t be afraid to pick up seasonal work or part time work in the meantime. Consider gig or contract work, just to keep something coming in. Steer clear of any company that calls itself “a family.” This is business: it’s transactional AND conditional, so treat it as such.
Finally: this isn’t a reflection of you or who you are as a person, so try not to take it personally.
IPS is a high level Cengage insider and says yes in November before Thanksgiving and again in Febuary once Spring semester work is done.
I feel like I’m on the Titanic.
My bet is 11/16, what I heard from down the hall yesterday. Good luck!!!
Yes. IPS said there are going to be layoffs the Thursday before next paycheck then once Spring products are published.
Friday's are usually safe, but considering what happened yesterday, I have to ask.
