Thread regarding VMware layoffs

VMW stock ended at 142.5$ today.

Is that indicative of the deal closing on oct 30?
What about China approval?
Will Broadcom move ahead without China?

Wrong. People were speculating that the election will open up again and that is why the price was above 142.50 even after the election closed on Monday. But the price corrected by the end of the week and below the 142.50. So, no more elections until close.

Wrong, you can't sell only if you voted. If you did not vote, you are free to sell. 142.50 is what non voting shareholders will get if the aquisition closes Monday. Broadcom has until 11/26 to complete the aquisition. If the date slips, but still looks likely, there is a good chance we will need to have another vote, or your vmw shares would be not be able to be sold during the extended period. If that happens, you may see another sharp rise in the vmw share price as arbitragers will be snapping it up so they can vote and get the 50/50 payout, 180ish.

Closed at 142.20 which is below 142.50. So the market doesn't think the deal price is the floor. Those who didn't sell can't sell. Watch the price go down over the next few months. Like it was communicated today we will get clarity over the next few months.

"All of those offers are conditional and will become void if deal fails.
The biggest hint the deal is delayed is the all hands being cancelled by vmware.
Broadcom cannot close without China approval.
The deal is blocked."

Of course they're conditional. That's just covering themselves from a legal standpoint. If the deal was delayed then they would have delayed sending out the offers and the day 1 checklist. It makes zero sense for them to send those out until they know it's for sure happening. Just because they're not keeping you personally in the loop doesn't mean you can't put 2 and 2 together and use some logic.

I was told to take my offer. They told me we will be BC employees next week.

From my understanding Stock prices won't give any indication what so ever in regards to whether the deal is closing. It's all speculation, the price changes based on what people THINK will happen. Market uncertainty like this is obviously going to tank the stock, but noy based on actual confirmation, on speculation

Note to Shareholders: A couple of weeks ago, you could have sold at $177-178/share -- just like VMW leadership team's insider traders. Feeling a little foolish right now, are you?

It reflects the cash value offered by Broadcom because there is no way to get the 50/50 cash/avgo stock combo.
