Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

CTO wants to get to 60/40

The CTO says that we are currently at 83 percent on shore and that he wants to get that down to 40 percent.

Also, he said that his areas is at 50/50 fte to contractor mix.

I guess we would need to know the number of FTEs in CTO to understand how many would be impacted by these changes.

They should offshore executives first and foremost. After all, the executives are the ones that have screwed up the stock. The customer service, the data integrity. And the morale

I like Dan (and Steve) but he just took the role.

I'm a former Truist tech person, so I'm out of the loop. Who is the CTO now.....Dan who? And what is Steve A's role now?

Any CTO that is prioritizing the onshore/offshore labor ratio is not a CTO.

A CTO shouldn't be concerned with optimizing labor OPEX by moving onshore to offshore.

Because, let's face it, you get what you pay for.

Billionaire tech founder: Young Indians should work 70 hours per week - from key Truist offshore partner. Of course leadership wants to send our jobs to this guy because of his focus on purpose and giving back to the community.

Of course you do. Did you know STI was half way through outsourcing IT when the MoE disrupted their plans? New boss same as the old boss.

I like Dan (and Steve) but he just took the role. The damage was done by Steve's predecessor, who moved on to a similar role for another company. The problem is they spent way too much and couldn't break through the old ways of doing things that were not efficient. Now the bank as a whole is suffering because of higher rates and a slowing economy. We've known for a long time that it's about the shareholders, and our stock price is tanking. The worst thing that’s coming is outsourcing most of technology.

Eduardo and his empire building was the best. There are many over paid guild leads that can't even deliver on a strategy in CT&O

It's not actually as bad as they say. There's some groups in CTO that are still growing! And it's all onshore. What's sad though is that the group I know about could actually do the same work with 10% of the workforce they currently have. But as always, it's who you know and who you can B.S. Keep building your empires!

This is terrible news if you are in Enterprise Tech. I worked for this company 20+ years, starting with BB&T. It used to be a great place to work back in the day. Not anymore. So glad I took the VSRP.
