The whole thing is starting to look like a badly written soap opera.

How many times does people need to explain that BC cannot layoff people before deal closes? They also cannot directly communicate. Hence the portal. Yes they are very very rudimentary when it comes to processes and systems and communication. You can expect same if you accept the offer and work for BC. In my 4 yrs at VMW one thing I have learned is that everyone is very pampered and do a fraction of work as compared to other fast moving extremely profitable companies. If everyone was working and doing their best then Hock would not be in picture. He himself has said that. So if you got an offer then you can take it and try to work for BC. No one is stopping you from leaving. This how successful integrations and PE acquisitions look like. Brutal. Most acquisitions fail in few years because of all the garbage that is brought over. Hock has done this 15 times before and makes 4 times money with half the people. You were all warned more than year ago that you will join a sweatshop. Nothing has changed. Nothing will change. BC will operate like it always has. Su-k it up and wait for more info when it’s available. Or move on. Don’t whine. Remember there are lot more people who will loose jobs than one’s getting an offer. Assume you are going to be laid off till you get an offer.
I'd like to offer my perspective, as it appears many at VMW are awaiting clarity on their roles after the transaction concludes. I surmise that AVGO has extended their offers based on the M&A agreements and might be planning to address the remaining communications in the upcoming week for other regions. Given that AVGO doesn't technically employ the VMW staff, they can't initiate layoffs. AVGO's decision not to elucidate this process may have been a misstep. Perhaps it's a strategic move to stabilize stock prices; announcing a large-scale layoff post-acquisition isn't typically well-received by stakeholders.
Honestly, from the chaos that I have seen so far with regards to the rollout of the offer letters, FAQs provided, and Broadcom's T&E and leave policy which I managed to scrape up from different reliable sources including from Broadcom employees, it really seems like a Micky Mouse outfit compared to the many other companies that I have worked for over the past 25+ years. Some people are saying about the rollout endless chaos that it's always hard to get these types of things right and that it should have been expected, except that this is not Broadcom's first rodeo in terms of acquisitions and they've had a year and half to plan and get this right, but they have honestly f'ed that up royally so far. Like I said before, feels like a Mickey Mouse outfit so far. What I have managed to work out so far is that although I will be offered the same compensation (base salary + commission) as are most of my peers from the sounds of it, there will not be an even trade-off in terms of the financial value that will be lost in terms of allowances, leave, etc. which will be in the thousands. Funny, we had heard from Hok himself back in May of last year that Broadcom makes up for a lack of "perks" with better pay. So much for that. Oh well, that's life I guess and not much use griping about it, but sounds like I'll be looking to move on in the new year as I'm sure many will over the coming months. Best of luck to all!
"It's sad to say, but there are likely worse companies that can and will buy VMware."
Agreed, the PE-owned Cloud Software Group (Citrix remnants) could acquire EUC BU
Why the drama?
30 Oct was set months ago. We haven't even reached that date. If you're tired of drama dragging out, that's on you. However, once we have passed that date and it is still dragging out, then we can complain.
It will end 11/26. Hock will fail and be thankful he will. BC is nothing short of Satan's seed.
The broadcom saga will come to and on or before November 26th, 2023. That date is the last possible outside date. It cannot be extended further per the merger agreement. So, by the 26th - either deal close or walk away.
Either way, the overall saga doesn't end here. There will be either another buyer, or another major shakeup to cut all the bloat, or a partial sale of certain BU's, etc.
And broadcom is known to keep optimizing until it starts to hurt the business.
Buckle up!
Yes it will.
If you wanted certainty, you should have left in the last 17 months.
It's sad to say, but there are likely worse companies that can and will buy VMware. I'm no fan of BC, but it can always be worse. BC actually has a vision (or pretends to). Others could just squeeze VMware's invested customers knowing they can't swtich their entire freakin infrastructure overnight.
We are the next notch on rich dude's belt of sales that has made him stupid rich. Be it with BC or whoever else shows him the right $ figure. https://www.crn.com/news/channel-news/broadcom-s-vmware-deal-to-net-michael-dell-21-65b-in-cash-and-stock
This is VMware's destiny now. Be it under BC or an even worse company a few months later if this falls through, VMware will be sold off. VMware as we know it is over.
Nope, but let's hope that BC fail. I know the company is gone if they do fail to buy VMW out but at the end of the day no one is doing any work anymore (in Ireland anyway) because we are being told nothing.
