In the past layoffs VMware kept you on payroll for 60 days and then the severance kicks in. Do we know if it’s the same for transition severance? It says 4 months base plus 1 week/year. I wonder if we stay on payroll first and then we get severance right after that.

Immediate layoff is 2 months plus one week per year, from what I’ve seen on Slack. Transition is 4 months since you do have to work during the notice period.
It (the severance) is whatever Hock wants it to be. Nothing more, or less.
Right now he's kinda distracted and unable to answer any questions ;-)
I feel like the information is cloudy at best. If you are getting cut loose (not transition), is severance 2 months plus 1 week per year? Or 4 months? And for commissioned employees, do we get OTE? Sorry if this has been covered. I have seen conflicting statements. The only consistency I've seen is the 1 week per year of service.
So I thought. Just weighing my options because I have a looming offer I need to compare it against. Thank you.
nope because the transition period is considered the notice period. You're given notice of the given length right from the beginning. The VMW severance plan clearly states that 4 months is paid if you're working during the notice period which you are. There is no "additional" notice past the transition end date.
