Thread regarding VMware layoffs

For those who didn’t get offers!

China will delay this - they have 24 hours from now to get approval and if they don’t this deal will be delayed.

For those who did not get letters this means you stay on payroll during the delay and none of the WARN notice or your severance starts until the deal actually closes.

Everyone laid off gets paid for no work and to look for other jobs. Honestly what better outcome to these executives screwing you than getting paid to do nothing! Awaiting severance!! Fu--ing classic

There is a God

island? is't been done before? nope. it has NOT been done before. and SAMR has beefed up its rules so it will be very difficult to do something like this now. the issue isn't just VMW, but also Broadcom revenue. Will Hock Tan want to pay a 10% penalty from the worldwide revenue? I doubt that very much.

dreaming is not a strategy.

“ China will remain an island pretending to be 2 companies”
Wrong.

that's not how this works at all. everything else will merge and China will remain an island pretending to be 2 companies. Ultimately anything not CIBG and NSX will get cut and China is only a few hundred headcount in VMWare anyways. Easy enough to have VMWare "shut down" in China, pay a severance and then rehire everyone into Broadcom. It's a workaround, it's been done before.
