Thread regarding Meta / Facebook layoffs

Ready to hire again

A new article in The Washington Post is titled "After laying off thousands, Meta expects to add jobs next year." Can anybody please explain to me then what was the point of all these cuts if they're planning to turn around and rehire/replace the laid-off employees so soon?

I was approached ten months after I left to rejoin as a contractor, offered a rate that would replace ~ 80% of what I was earning as a FTE. They answer was NO obviously, they are struggling to find talent in VA and overworking the few they left in some teams line a sweat shop. The more they work the higher my RSU’s go!!! Now they work for me

They have 66K employees. That should be more than enough to build whatever they want. In truth, FB and every company knows how worthless these H1Bs are. You can't expect much from a society that has ZERO tech companies, despite billions in investment, and whose only export is cheap labor. They are hired because it both increases head count, thus calming investors always concerned about growth, and pay lower salaries.

To satisfy the shareholders and artificially boost the stock.
