Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

Welcome rsu first vest date

Ca technologies and Symantec folks - VMware employee here. For the welcome RSUs you folks got, was the vest start date immediately and the vest over 4 years or was there a delay in the start vest. I’m trying to understand if I got 100 RSUs and I decide to join broadcom does that mean In a year from now 250 would have vested or is there a delay by some period of time? (And if there was a delay was it clearly specified in your welcome letter / offer)

Grateful for any insights here so folks at VMware can make a more informed decision.

BC employee via symantec here.

Standard RSU vesting dates are the 15th of Mar, Jun, Sep, Dec.
Our original grant was dated Dec 15 of 2019. (symantec closed on Oct31/nov1 IIRC-- same end of fiscal year as they are trying with VMW) and the first distribution was Mar 15 2020.
Since then new grants have been issued on Mar 15, with first distribution on Jun 15.
(and before you ask, no, you probably won't get a new grant in Mar 2024 because your initial one just happened. -- this leads to an off-by-one issue after 4 years, but not that big of a deal)

As previous poster mentioned, things were different previously with CA. I think the 4 year/16 quarter method is what everyone is moving to.

I was a transition employee when we first joined from CA. Originally the RSUs vested yearly but that was changed to quarterly at some point later on. I think you will need to wait the full year or quarter before they start vesting. So if you get 400 RSUs which is a 4 year grant then its 100 RSUs a year and 25 a quarter and are taxed on vesting so comes to 50% or 12 shares.
